Product description:
A semi-trailer brake adjuster, like a manual slack adjuster, is a component used to adjust the brake clearance in the air brake system of a semi-trailer. Proper adjustment of the brake system is crucial for maintaining safe and efficient braking performance while hauling heavy loads on the road.
Here are steps to adjust the brakes on a semi-trailer using a manual slack adjuster:
Park the semi-trailer on a level surface and make sure it is securely chocked to prevent any movement.
Locate the manual slack adjuster on the brake assembly. It is typically found near the brake chamber on each wheel.
Use the appropriate tool, such as a slack adjuster wrench or a suitable ratchet, to turn the adjusting nut in the correct direction. Consult the trailer manufacturer's specifications for the proper direction of adjustment.
Turn the adjusting nut slowly while checking the clearance between the brake shoes and the brake drum. It is important to ensure there is proper contact between the brake shoes and the drum without excessive drag.
Test the brakes by applying and releasing them a few times to settle the adjustment. Ensure that the brakes engage smoothly and effectively.

Applications:
Manual slack adjusters are used in a variety of applications across different industries, particularly in heavy-duty vehicles with air brake systems. Some common applications include:
Commercial Trucks: Manual slack adjusters are essential components in the air brake systems of commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, delivery trucks, and dump trucks. They help maintain proper brake shoe-to-drum clearance for effective braking performance and safety.
Buses: Manual slack adjusters are commonly found in the air brake systems of buses, such as school buses, transit buses, and coach buses. They play a critical role in ensuring reliable braking operation for passenger transportation.
